IMPHAL — Thirty women from Manipur, including 15 internally displaced persons in relief camps, will undergo intensive Skill Training Programme in Fragrance Formulations for Wellness Products.
The training programme is an initiative of Manipur government and organised by Hindu College Delhi in partnership with Ultra International Ltd and CSIR-CIMAP, Lucknow, under the esteemed mentorship of Supreme Court-appointed Committee headed by Justice Gita Mittal.
The three-week intensive training encompasses theoretical sessions, special lectures, hands on sessions, visit to industries and excursions and aims to empower women from Manipur by equipping them with specialised skills in the fragrance industry, said Mercina R Panmei, staff officer to Chief Secretary Manipur in a press note on Monday.
Through the structured comprehensive sessions and industrial visits, the trainees will be able to acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical experience of the real world that will ultimately help them in becoming self-sufficient to develop and commercially sell the wellness products for their livelihood, it said.
The formal inauguration of the programme at Hindu College Delhi was attended by state chief secretary Dr Vineet Joshi, Principal Prof Anju Srivastava and Vice Principal Prof Reena Jain of Hindu College.
Speaking on the occasion the chief secretary stressed the unique opportunity and privilege accorded to women from Manipur and encouraged them to expand their knowledge and work towards self-sustainability. He said the training is more than just acquiring skills but also a doorway to a brighter future for many.
Upon completion of their training at Hindu College, the state government of Manipur will further enhance their skills by collaborating with the MSME Technology Centre in Imphal, which has facilities like distilleries and labs for producing the items they have been trained to make.
Additionally, the procurement of goods produced at the relief camps will be managed by Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission and Manipur Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd, two government agencies nominated by the state government to support relief and rehabilitation efforts.
This initiative aims to provide livelihood opportunities to the residents of the relief camps by ensuring that government offices in the state source their office supplies from items produced by these inmates.
