Mokokchung, May 16 (EMN): A 30-day production oriented theatre workshop got under way at the Art and Culture office, Ungma, Mokokchung on Monday.

The workshop is being organised by the Sangeet Natak Academy in collaboration with Hill Theatre and Art and Culture department, Government of Nagaland.

Sentilong Ozukum, SDO (Civil), Mokokchung, was the guest of honour at the inaugural programme.

Ozukum asserted that ‘art is something original, which we create and treasure and value. People in the art field consider art as a deity and they worship art’.

In this connection, he said that the 30-day workshop will be a time of renewal and it would be like a pilgrimage, a spiritual journey where the participants will learn many things about art.

Pabitra Rabha, one of the resource persons also spoke at the event.

He asserted that to continue a journey in the field or art and theatrics is difficult and in the 30 days, the participants will also become a part of a journey.

He informed the participants that in the coming days, they will try to find out what makes them beautiful from inside in front of the camera, to the audience and as actors.

“To find the beauty inside you it would take time, however, during this period of 30 days, you will go through so many things to really know what makes each one beautiful,” he asserted.

Participants will undergo production process and improvisation, physical theatre, property making, make-up and theatre music, participatory theatre and role play, realistic acting, glimpse of theatre direction, management and set design during the 30-day theatre workshop.

The resource persons at the workshop are Bendang Walling, Alumni NSD, New Delhi, Theatre practitioner and actor, Jadumani Singh, Director of Blooming Cultural Academy, performing arts and award winning theatre practitioner, Thoudam Victor Singh, Alumni NSD, New Delhi, Charles Wallace student, London School of Performing Arts, Kilangtemsu Imsong, Alumni, NSD (TIE) Tripura,  theatre practitioner and actor; and Pabitra Rabha, Alumni NSD, New Delhi, theatre director and Bollywood actor.
