DIMAPUR — With a call for immediate implementation of the Naga political agreements, the Fed-Up Nagas on Friday announced that leaders of three Naga political groups (NPGs) will jointly address a public rally in Chümoukedima on June 27 after the programme was shifted from Dimapur's Supermarket (Naga Shopping Arcade) area due to security concerns.
The rally, now scheduled to begin at 1 pm at Agri Expo, 4th Mile, Chümoukedima, will be held with an aim to press for the implementation of all agreements signed between the government of India and the NPGs.
Addressing a press conference Friday, committee member Kuhoto Naga said that the youth-led initiative has, for several months, been urging the Centre to implement the agreements signed with the NPGs, which have remained pending for a long time.
He informed that leaders of NSCN-IM, the Working Committee of NNPG led by Kitovi Zhimomi and the Working Committee of NNPG led by Alezo Venuh are expected to attend the rally and brief the public on the current status of the agreements.
Kuhoto urged the public to dedicate two hours for the rally spearheaded by the Fed-Up Nagas, saying it concerns the future of the Naga people.
He claimed that the gathering would provide an opportunity to demonstrate unity and convey the aspirations of the Naga people to the government of India.
Kuhoto reiterated that the initiative is independent and has no affiliation with any political party, organisation or association.
While individuals from different political backgrounds may support the movement in their personal capacity, he stressed that the initiative itself is non-partisan.
"We are Nagas first, and we are raising our voice for the future of our people," Kuhoto said.
He also said that the organisers were unable to send personal invitations to every organisation and individual because of limited time and resources.
Describing the event as an open call to all Nagas, he urged people not to stay away simply because they had not received a formal invitation.
Committee member Hiketo Naga said that the rally was not intended to create division among the Naga people but to unite them on an issue concerning their collective future.
He asserted that there would be no VIP culture at the event and that all participants, irrespective of their social or professional status, would be treated equally.
Hiketo also said that the movement is not funded or sponsored by any organisation and requested participants to bring their own drinking water and umbrellas as the organisers have limited resources.
He added that the organisers had approached church leaders to offer the invocation or benediction, but they declined, citing the sensitivity of the issue.

Claiming that "the entire system" was against the initiative, Hiketo nevertheless said that the organisers would proceed with the rally if it was "God's will", acknowledging that challenging the system was difficult with limited manpower and resources.
He said that the rally had brought together Naga youth and invited representatives of the three Naga political groups to explain the realities and challenges surrounding the Naga political issue.
According to him, the leaders agreed to address the gathering after recognising the concerns and aspirations of the youth and would share what they believe to be the truth about the current situation.
Expressing concern over unemployment and the uncertainty facing Naga youth, Hiketo said that government jobs alone could not provide opportunities for everyone.
He argued that a lasting political solution and a peaceful environment were essential to creating better opportunities for the younger generation.
Appealing to youth, parents and students to attend the rally, Hiketo said that the issue transcends tribal, religious, denominational and organisational differences and concerns the future of the Naga people.
