3 Naga fighters enter semi-finals of GAMMA Asian Championships

Dimapur, Aug. 26 (EMN): Three mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters from Nagaland have entered the semi-finals of the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) Asian MMA Championship.

Five MMA fighters from the state are representing India at the event, which is being in Kyrgyzstan from August 24 to the 28th. The opening ceremony of the championships was held at Cholpan Ata.

An update received here on Thursday informed that Arsenba Ozukum, who is competing in the 56.7 kg division, was given a walkover in his opening bout against Amin Shayan of Pakistan in the quarter-finals.

He will now take on Naorem Dinesh, also from India, in the semi-finals on Friday.

Kekhrieneitso Angami, who is competing in the 70.3 kg category, defeated Ibnu Ananda of Indonesia via referee stoppage in the quarter-finals.

Following the win, he will now fight Shammas Latheef, also from India, in the semi-finals on Friday.

The update went on to inform that Longstukumba Ao (77.1 kg category) defeated Bektur Mangiev of Kyrgyzstan by verbal tap to enter the semi-finals, where he will take on Elaman Koldoshev of Kyrgyzstan on Friday.

Meanwhile, Limasunep Imchen (61.2 kg division) went down fighting in the quarter-finals, conceding a defeat to Eldos Uulu Attokur of Kyrgyzstan via split decision. Mairidin Newmai (65.8 kg division) also lost to Motaz Temeiza of Palestine in the round of 16.
