[dropcap]A[/dropcap]long with the rest of the country, the 2nd round IPPI Polio was launched across the State today.
In Dimapur district, IPPI Polio was conducted at District Hospital Dimapur by Dr. M.A. Wati, Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur with the administration of the first polio drops to a new born baby at District Hospital, Dimapur.
Dr. Imchameren, Dy.CMO, Dr. D. Mero Medical Superintendent, District Hospital along with staff and various health programme officers and staff under CMO establishment were present during the brief inaugural function which was chaired by Dr. Lanuakum, DPO, RCH-UIP, Dimapur.103 supervisors were detailed to monitor 517 polio booths set up in Dimapur district to immunize the target population of 53,168 children of 5 years and below.
104 percent of coverage was achieved during the first round of IPPI 2015 which was conducted in January.
TUENSANG:
In Tuensang district, it was conducted with 230 booths. Around 920 vaccinators and 48 supervisors were involved in the polio campaign. The District Health Society (DHS) hoped to cover atleast around 27552 targeted children aged in between 0–5 years. In Tuensang town alone 26 booths with 104 vaccinators were deployed and 7 supervisors from all vertical programmes were actively involved.
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) expressed his gratitude to the district administration, security personals, all sectors chairmen/presidents/GBs/NGOs/FBOs/CBOs and the parents of the children for their active cooperation and participation in the campaign to make the district “POLIO FREE”.
PEREN:
In Peren district, Dr. Thangoi, State Monitoring and Supervision Officer for 2nd Round IPPI 2015 was present to supervise and monitor the ongoing activity in the District.
Altogether, there were 440 volunteers, 140 booths, 21 supervisors involved in carrying out the tasks in the district. With the motive to reach out to every household, teams were divided involving health workers, Police department, Anganwadi worker, ASHA’s of every village were send out to every part of the District ensuring that no child is missed out. The house to house visits will continue thereafter till February 24. The target population 0-5 years for Peren district is 13,294.
LONGLENG:
The Intensive Pulse Polio was held in Longleng district with Dr. N. Bendang Jamir CMO, Longleng administering the first polio drops at district hospital where he encouraged the medical staffs for their effort in making the campaign success and ensures that all children were fully immunized.
He also urged the people for their constant support and co-operate with the medical department for the successful implementation of the programme and expressed gratitude to all the staff under CMO establishment and MS District hospital establishment for their assistance and smooth conduct during the 2nd Round of IPPI in the District. Under the supervision of Dr.Imtiwabang Aier DPO (RCH/UIP) and all the staff under CMO office and MS District hospital volunteered to carry out the progsramme successfully.
A total of 70 booths were set up across the district manned by 280 vaccinators to cover the target of 7083 children in the age group between 0-5 years.
Health workers and volunteers would be conducting house to house visit on 23rd and 24th for children who failed to turn up at the booth for polio vaccine
PHEK:
Phek District health society has conducted 2nd round of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) which was launched by Dr.K.Vikato Kinimi, Chief Medical Officer, Phek at District Hospital.
During the launching of the program CMO called upon the vaccinator, nurses and health workers that they are doing a noble job in protecting the children’s future by the two drops of polio given by them .
The 1st Polio drops were administered by Thupuchi Khesoh Pastor Phek Town Baptist Church who also invoked God’s blessings.
Earlier, the program was led by Dr.Neisakho DPO (NVBDCP) who also briefed and reminded the health workers in carrying out the activities. Polio booths were set up in all the colonies with a total of 190 Polio booths and 28 supervisors for supervision. House to house visitation will be conducted on 23rd and 24th in order to give complete immunization to all the children who were missed out during the polio program on February 22.
