2nd edition of open folk song and folk fusion competition held

The Tsaroho group during the second edition of All Nagaland Folk Song and Folk Fusion Competition held at Khuzama, Kohima, on December 16.

DIMAPUR — The second edition of the All Nagaland Open Folk Song and Folk Fusion Competition was held at Khuzama village playground in Kohima on December 16.

According to a DIPR report, the programme was organised by Kekhrie Krotho in collaboration with the Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) on the theme ‘String of the past, melody of the future’.

MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, who attended the event as the special guest, lauded TaFMA’s efforts to increase the number of people earning a living through music under the leadership of project director Dr. Hovithal Sothu.

In his welcome address, chief event manager Nunese Sale said that the main motive for organising the event was to promote the rich culture and heritage of the Nagas and provide a platform for local talents and entrepreneurs.

The Tsaroho group secured the first position in the group folk song category, with Poimi Students’ Union Kohima coming in second. In solo folk fusion, Sabino Hibo clinched first place, followed by Alo Ena and Khrielhoubei Kaimo. In the folk song category, Atenle Seb secured first place, while Menuolhounuo finished second.

The panel of judges for the competition included Alune Tetseo from Tetseo Sisters, Neikuo Khezhie, and Kehodi Yoho from Coloured Keys.

Earlier, the Khuzama Experience “Walking the Ancient Path” monolith was unveiled by project director TaFMA, Dr. Hovithal Sothu, in the presence of Chairman, Village Council Khuzama.
