Ungma (Mokokchung), Nov. 29 (EMN): As the date for the by-election for the vacant seat of 26 Aonglenden A/C awaits declaration by the ECI, the 26 Aonglenden ACCC (Assembly Constituency Congress Committee) organised a reorganisation programme which was held at Mangkoterong sector at Ungma village during which a new team of office bearers was also installed on Nov. 29. The programme was hosted by Lanusanen Imsong NPCC (Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee) member.
Speaking at the programme, the president District Congress Committee (DCC), Watimongba Aier said that the party workers are the 'kingmaker' for the party candidate. Saying that the Congress party has been tested and has survived the toughest of the stormy winds, Aier said that the era when the Congress dominated the whole district can be made into a reality again 'if the party followers remain strong'.
Nonetheless, he warned that if the party cannot stand as 'we" (or to be more precise 'united'), then the opportunity to bring the congress to its past glory can easily slip away unnoticed. He therefore, challenged the newly inducted office bearers and the party members to work hard to 'grab the opportunity'.
The DCC president also called upon his comrades to be prepared to let a Congress candidate come out victorious when the Election Commission of India declares the by-election for the 26 Aonglenden A/C. He asked all the party rank and file of the assembly constituency to shoulder a bigger responsibility and select a good party candidate who is a man of integrity and principle cutting across clan, party line and wealth.
The newly inducted president of the 26 Aonglenden ACCC, Obendangba Longkumer, in his address, listed the bringing of Congress party to its former glory as the top priority and called upon the party workers and leaders to support the office to achieve its goal.
Short speeches were also delivered by the DCC advisor, representatives from NPCC, Mongya Constituency, Mahila District Congress Committee and DCC vice-president.
