25 out of state’s 65 colleges have NAAC accreditation
Dimapur, Aug. 20 (EMN): Out of 65 colleges in the state of Nagaland only 25 colleges have the accreditation of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Colleges are urged to seek accreditation from the NAAC.
The information was a highlight of a workshop that was conducted on August 20 at Fazl Ali College in Mokokchung. The workshop discussed issues and challenges associated with the NAAC, updates stated
The government publicity agency department of Information and Public Information issued updates on Tuesday informing about the workshop.
Delivering the keynote address during the inaugural session, a joint director of the Higher Education department, Rokono Keyho, pointed out that the biggest challenge for higher education is to ensure quality education. The UGC and the ministry of Human Resource Development have made it mandatory for all higher educational institutions to be NAAC-assessed and accredited, the updates stated.
Through assessment, the official said, institutions become aware of their strength and weaknesses, find a new direction and identity to grow.
In this regard, Keyho added that the department has instituted a state level quality assurance cell to help colleges in accreditation related processes.
Likewise, an academic and administrative audit cell comprising a committee also has been set up to assist colleges to prepare for the process.
The official was stated to have urged colleges to seek NAAC accreditation as out of 65 colleges in Nagaland only 25 colleges were accredited by the council.
Principals and lecturers from nine colleges attended the workshop, the IPR stated.
