216 new Covid-19 cases in State; 3.92 lakh in India

Nagaland recorded 216 new Covid-19 positive cases on Sunday, pushing the state’s tally to 14350.

The minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, updated that out of the 216 new cases detected in the last 24 hours, 104 were in Dimapur, 95 in Kohima, 11 in Mon, four in Mokokchung and two Longleng.

He added that 27 patients — 23 in Dimapur and two each in Kohima and Mokokchung — recovered during the same period of time.

The state currently has 1529 active Covid-19 and 12295 recoveries.

Meanwhile, India’s total active Caseload reached 33,49,644 (33.49 lakh) with 3,92,488 (3.92 lakh)new cases registered in the last 24 hours, according to data provided by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Maharashtra reported the highest daily new cases at 63,282. It was followed by Karnataka with 40,990 while Kerala reported 35,636 new cases.

Further, 3,689 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. It said that the national mortality rate has been falling and currently stands at 1.10%.

Ten states accounted for 76.01% of the new deaths. Maharashtra saw the maximum casualties (802) while Delhi followed with 412 deaths.

Moreover, as on Day-106 of the vaccination drive (May 1), 18,26,219 vaccine doses were given. Across 15,968 sessions, 11, 14, 214 beneficiaries were vaccinated for 1st dose and 7,12,005 beneficiaries received their 2nd dose of vaccine.

86,023 beneficiaries of the age group 18-44 years received their first dose of Covid vaccine across 11 states. These states were Chhattisgarh (987), Delhi (1,472), Gujarat (51,622), Jammu and Kashmir (201), Karnataka (649), Maharashtra (12,525), Odisha (97), Punjab (298), Rajasthan (1853), Tamil Nadu (527) and Uttar Pradesh (15,792).
