Dimapur, July 28 (EMN): The 21 erstwhile NPF legislators, who had merged with NDPP, have demanded the NPCC president, K Therie, to furnish the names of the MLAs who have received INR 2.50 crore from the deducted 70% of MGNREGA fund and who delivered the payments to the MLAs with specific date and place.

The 21 MLAs have demanded Therie to response with proof within seven days, failing which he should apologise publicly for making such false accusations. In the event of failure to comply, the 21 MLAs have threatened to file defamation case in the court of law.

K Therie had, on July 21, claimed that 19 NPF MLAs who had recently merged with NDPP were given INR 2.50 crores each as election fund.

In a press release issued on behalf of the 21 MLAs, advisor and MLA Dr. Chumben Murry, has advised Therie to get his facts right before blurting out gibberish in public domain stating that 21 NPF MLAs had merged with NDPP. Dr. Murry also stated that the wild allegations that the state government deducted 70% from MGNREGA fund and given INR 2.50 crore each as election fund was just fictional tale and cheap gimmick.

Stating that individuals have the right to point out the corrupt practices and seek accountability and remedial measures from powers that be in a democratic country like ours, Dr. Murry, however, stated that the right does not entail any individual to level accusations without proof and with the sole aim to cause embarrassment.

Dr. Murry further advised K Therie, a veteran politician and respectable figure in the society, not to indulge in cheap politics.
