DIMAPUR — The valedictory programme of a month-long skill development training in masonry, plumbing, tiling and electrical trades was held at Shamator town on Thursday.
Speaking at the programme, Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Shamator, Mekato J Aye congratulated the 200 trainees as well as the partnering agencies — AISTEC and Rhümoru Society — for the successful completion of the training.
According to a DIPR report, Aye emphasised that the trainees should build strong professional networks among themselves, understand the circulation of money within the local economy, and contribute towards strengthening the district economy and eventually the economy of Nagaland.
He stated that the skills imparted during the training would serve as a precursor to the developmental activities expected in the region in the coming years. The EAC reminded participants that the initiative was not merely about the distribution of machinery or tools, but about becoming certified skilled workers and active contributors to society.

Encouraging them to combine practical skills with thoughtful planning, he said the future belongs to those who use both their hands and minds effectively.
Aye also urged the trainees to motivate youths and parents in their respective villages to enrol in skill development programmes, adding that the Shamator district administration aims to create a pool of 3,000 skilled labourers.
Out of the 200 participants in the current session, 50 were women, he informed. Basic toolkits were also distributed to the trained participants during the programme.
