Congress members in Ukhrul district numbering 200 have ditched their party to join the Naga People’s Front (NPF), according to NPF leader Athuan Abonmai. The general secretary of NPF, Manipur State, claimed that 200 Congressmen from Ukhrul district have resigned from the primary membership to join the NPF few days ago. According to Athuan Abonmai, the people have lost their faith in the national parties as the latter have been fooling the people for a long time now.
“These bluffs of the national parties are known even by kids and the people today seek solace in the regional parties,” stated the NPF leader.
Meanwhile, Naga Peoples Front (NPF), Manipur State, has strongly condemned the ‘barbaric racial killing’ of Nido Tania, a student from Arunachal Pradesh by a mob at Delhi.
The NPF said such racial killing, torture and harassment physically and mentally meted out to Northeast citizens by Indian mainland become common phenomenon which was very unfortunate. It has demanded the Government of India to take up immediate remedies to erase such racism before things go out of control. Racial discrimination is the greatest enemy of human society.
Government of India should know that innocent Northeastern citizens have, for too long, bear the brunt of racial discrimination by the Indian mainland.
NPF Manipur State also strongly condemned the physical assault of two innocent girls of Ukhrul district, Manipur, at Delhi by those ‘racism fanatics’.
According to Athuan Abonmai inspite of cries for help by those two helpless girls, no one dares to venture out to rescue as they the racists knew that those girls were from northeast which was very unfortunate and condemnable by all human societies.
NPF Manipur State has demanded immediate judicial probe over the killing of Nido Tania and also immediate arrest to those involved in both the heinous crime and book them as per law of the land. It also demanded that the erring police personnel who intentionally delayed the registering of FIR should be suspended immediately and takes action.
NPF Manipur State has also deplored the alleged bias attitude of Congress led Manipur State for not raising the issue and maintain complete silent while their children are crying in the Delhi street for justice.
“The Manipur State Government led by O. Ibobi Singh was never concern over the security of our boys and girls of the State who are the victims of racial discrimination in various part of the country,” he alleged. He also claimed that a number of such racial discriminations incident took place but the State government always remained silent unless hue and cry were made by the public, which is regretted and condemnable by all right thinking citizens.
The NPF Manipur State then applauded the initiative of North-East Regional Parties Front (NERPF) for giving pressure to all the central leaders of the country to eliminate racial discrimination towards the North- East people. Such step taken by the Regional parties under the aegis of NERPF should be welcomed by every citizens to bring justice for the region, he added.
