20 students, 4 teachers return from 15-day integration tour
The group being welcomed in Kohima following their tour on October 13.

DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles received the 20 students and four teachers from Government Middle School and Government Higher Secondary School, Meluri, following the completion of the 15-day National Integration Tour on October 13 in Kohima.

As part of the tour, the students and teachers visited Bengaluru, Belgaum, and Delhi, stated a press release.

In the first phase, they visited Bengaluru, where the group toured the National Military Memorial, the grand Bangalore Palace, the National Gallery of Modern Art, Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, Lal Bagh Botanical Garden, and Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace. They also visited the Army Service Corps Centre.

In the second phase, they visited Belgaum, where they gained firsthand experience of the training standards of the Indian Army at the Commando School and witnessed various methodologies in the training of commandos. They also visited the Maratha Light Infantry Training Centre.

The Belgaum leg of the tour concluded with visits to the scenic Gokak Waterfalls, Hidkal Dam, and Belgaum Fort. The final stop of the tour was New Delhi, where the students visited the historical India Gate and the National War Memorial. They also had the opportunity to travel on the Delhi Metro.

The chief guest for the occasion, Major General Manish Kumar, SM, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North), attended the event in Kohima, during which he emphasised the importance of this opportunity to witness the diversity and richness of the country and broaden the horizons of the students.
