2 killed in Nagaland as pickup truck plunges 200 feet down the road
DIMAPUR — In what appears to be tragic road accident, the Mon police on Monday morning recovered two death bodies from a pickup truck that had plunged 200 feet down the road.
The Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mon, Ilam Lunglang, told Eastern Mirror that the accident took place between Angjangyang police station and Longching village in Mon district.
The owner of the pickup truck contacted Mon police about a missing vehicle with two occupants after it didn’t return to Assam, following which the police initiated a search operation, informed the police officer.
The police search team located the missing vehicle around 9:30 am and 10 am on Monday morning and recovered the deceased bodies as well, he added.
The two deceased individuals have been identified as Lalit Nauholiya and Utpal Tasa, both residents of Sonari in Assam and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
The ASP said that they were conducting an investigation to determine the timing and the cause of the accident and waiting for the post-mortem report for further details. ‘At this point in time, it is being treated as an accident case,’ he added.
