2 arrested for looting passenger

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 18

DIMAPUR Police arrested two highway robbers on Tuesday last for looting a woman on September 13, early in the morning at around 3.30 am.
The incident occurred when the woman, a vegetable vendor, boarded an Auto Rickshaw at 6th Mile heading towards Dimapur in the morning of September 13. She was heading to the whole sale vegetable centre in the town for her business.
The morning trip is reportedly a routine exercise for the woman ever since she became a vegetable vendor but that fateful morning, she was man-handled at 3rd Mile by the auto driver and his accomplice.
They threatened and even attempted to take her life before fleeing away with the money she had with her to buy vegetables. The amount looted was Rs 13,000, Police said.
Following the reported incident the Dimapur Police personnel had been keeping a vigil of the whereabouts of the accused. Their vigil was rewarded when they spotted and arrested the culprits on Tuesday night, at Dimapur Railway Station.
The arrested duo have been identified as Enosh Ali (Driver), son of Jamal Ali from Nagaon district, under Assam, presently residing at Signal Bazar in Dimapur and Abemo Lotha, son of Phyophio Lotha of Niroya village under Wokha district.
A third accomplice reportedly is still at large till the time of filing this report.
A case has been registered in this regard, while further investigation is on, Police said.
