1st Phom Monyü volleyball trophy underway

Dimapur, March 31 (EMN): The 1st Phom Monyü volleyball trophy kicked-off on Wednesday at DDSC Stadium. The two-day tournament is being organised by the Dimapur Phom Students’ Union.
Personal Secretary to the minister for Health and Family Welfare, L Imtizulu Phom, who was the special guest for the event, said that a ‘student’s life was a golden life because it is the most important part of human life, and a period of joy and happiness’.
Every student should try to make the best use of their student life, he added.
He further said that sports would build the spirit and character of a man adding that a student must not be a book worm but play games and sports and take care of their health.
He further encouraged the students to use their talent and said that without knowing their talent “just do not go where the wind blows”.
Stressing on one’s own identity, he asked the people to keep their own identity and not be shy about it.
“If you do not want to disclose your identity to others because of your tribe then you will not achieve in life,” he stated.
He also encouraged the people not only to seek for government jobs, but explore their talents and other skills, citing about various artistes, sportspersons and other whose talents are recognised and earning well. “I hope to see Phom people taking stage someday”, he added.
15 teams are participating in the tournament. The teams include Dimapur Orangkong Students Union, Dimapur Sakshi Students Union, Tangha Students Union, Yongnyah Hongnyü Dimapur, Nyang Students’ union Dimapur, Bhumnyu Students’ union Dimapur, Yaongyimchen Students Union Dimapur, Dimapur Yongam Students Union, Dimapur Yachem Students Union, DImapur Kangching Students Union, Tamlu Bühü Laivangh Hoichem Dimapur, Yongshei Students Union Dimapur, and Namsang Students Union Dimapur.
