1st Late Rev. Fr. John Larrea SDB Volleyball Tournament concludes

Wokha, Jan. 5 (EMN): The first edition of Late Rev. Fr. John Larrea SDB volleyball tournament organised by the Lotha Catholic Youth Association (LCYA) at Montfort School, Baghty Town concluded on Wednesday.

K Renphamo Lotha, district agriculture officer, Mon was the special guest with Wobenthung J Patton, superintendent, department of Social Welfare, Wokha as the guest speaker.

Lotha lauded the LCYA executives for organising the tournament and bringing unity among the community and gave a brief profile of Late Rev. Fr. John Larrea while encouraging the participants to follow the footsteps and qualities of Fr. Larrea.

Urging the participants to lead a truthful and worthy catholic life, he further encouraged the youths to identify one’s hidden talents and make the best use of it.

The guest speaker in his address, congratulated the LCYA for the milestone achievement of organising the first ever Late Rev. Fr. John Larrea SDB volleyball tournament and exhorted the participants to share their ideas, talents and knowledge through sports.

Stating that through sports leadership is built, he expressed that opportunity can sometimes be misused and negativity can overcome the community and urged them to stay strong in their faith while giving service to the church, community and the people in need.

Expressing that through sports one’s character and identity is made known, he urged the participants to work together and bring unity among the people.

Earlier, the event witnessed a special song from Lily R Murry, vote of thanks by Mhonbemo Humtsoe, general secretary LCYA while the programme was chaired by Sukumbeni Patton and Shenti Humtsoe.
