1st Khelo India NE archery tourney in Imphal

Imphal, April 26 (EMN): In a move to promote and explore archery talent, the first Khelo India Northeast archery tournament will be held at the archery ground of Sports Authority of India (SAI)North Eastern regional centre Takyelpat in Imphal on May 1.
Almost all the archers under sub-junior, junior and senior categories from SAI centres under SAI NERC Imphal in North eastern states will take part in the day-long tournament, said SAI archery coach B Gunicha. The archers will compete in recurve and compound events.
So far 21 archers including four female archers from SAI centres of Nagaland (13) and Mizoram(eight)have confirmed their participation while archers from SAI centres in Manipur are expected to submit their list by tomorrow, Ch Shanta, another SAI archery coach said.
As the tournament is scheduled to complete in a day, the closing function will be held at 4 pm of May 1 itself in presence of Manipur Olympic Association’s Vice Presidents GA Ibopishak, K Raruni and general secretary Sunil Elangbam.
It may be mentioned that the archery tournament will be held at all the five SAI national centres of excellence including Imphal, Aurangabad, Guwahati, Kolkata and Sonepat on the same day.
