The 19th Sports Meet-cum-Music Fest of the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) got underway today at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (DBHSS) with Advisor SIRD & Chairman NSMDC, Merentoshi Jamir as the chief guest.
Speaking at the inaugural function, the chief guest Merentoshi Jamir urged the students to positively contribute for a better tomorrow. Stating that today’s youths are the gift for tomorrow’s generation, he encouraged them to utilize their talents wisely and to the fullest in order to bring positive changes to the society.
While stating that the voice of the youth is the need of the hour, Jamir called on the student community to rise above others as he felt they are the ones who should take responsibility as we march to catch up with the rest.
He also advised the gathering on the importance of having an ‘ambition’.
“Having the zeal and determination, nothing can stop a person from achieving his/her goal,” Jamir added.
On music and sports being a passion of the Nagas, Jamir encouraged the younger generation to excel in these fields and further expressed hope that they will bring laurels through their achievements.
Further underscoring the importance of maintaining one’s culture, he urged the student community to keep the Naga culture alive as he felt this will be the Naga identity to the rest of the world.
The five-day ANCSU meet is being held under the theme ‘Exploring Hidden Talents.’
Altogether, over 500 participants from 19 colleges across the state are participating in the sports meet-cum-music fest.
