Imphal, April 30 (EMN): The total voters in Manipur as per the final electoral roll numbers to 19,15,243. Out of which male electors numbers to 9,32,791 and female electors 9,82,452 and the number of newly registered electors are 21,500, according to Joint Chief Electoral Officer (Jt CEO) K Bono Singh of the state election department.
Speaking to media in Imphal on April 30 Monday, Jt CEO Bono said that the special drive for unregistered electors giving focus on registration of young electors between the age group of 18-21 years were successfully carried out in the state on July 2017.
During the special drive 9,582 were registered as new electors. Special drive through house to house visit by the booth level officers were carried out from October 4 to December 15 2017 during which 26,572 electors were registered.
It is a matter of pride that the then, Chief electoral officer of Manipur Vivek Kumar Dewangan and the then, SP Imphal East K Kabib won the National Award for Best Electoral Practices on SVEEP and for security management during the 11th Manipur State Legislative Assembly Election, 2017 respectively.
Minister Radheshyam for conservation of water bodies-Manipur education, labour & employment minister Thokchom Radheshyam said that the people of the state need to preserve and conserve the water bodies. He stressed that water is one of the basic essentials for human survival besides air, sunlight and food.
Minister Radheshyam was speaking as the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony of a painting competition on the theme ‘Save Nambul’ in Imphal on Monday. The function was attended by Sekmai MLA Heikham Dingo Singh, Director Art & Culture Ngangom Uttam Singh, Retd. IGP S Dinokumar Singh, senior citizens, students, and the guardians.
The Nambul River, he added has its own historic significance and the people should render their responsibility to save the river.
