19 schools, 3 villages declared tobacco-free zones in Zunheboto
DIMAPUR — During a district-level consultative committee meeting for Zunheboto district, a total of 19 schools and three villages (Aghuyito, Shoixe, and Zhekiye) were declared tobacco-free zones.
The meeting was held at the DC conference hall on December 7, according to a DIPR report.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Rahul Bhanudas Mali lauded Dr. Esther, District Nodal Officer for the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), for her tireless efforts in the fight against tobacco in his brief speech.
He said that tobacco is affecting the lives of many people, ranging from adults to the elderly, and advised everyone to refrain from using any tobacco products. He also mentioned that an anti-drug hospital has been proposed and is expected to be established in the coming years.
The Superintendent of Police, Zunheboto, Lupe Moza, congratulated all involved in the fight and requested that the certified tobacco-free zone institutes and villages perform consistently in the fight against eradicating drug abuse.
