18 new Covid-19 cases, 1 death in Nagaland; 16K infections, 666 fatalities in India

A total of 18 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in Nagaland on Saturday, taking the tally to 31,707 and active caseload to 250.

The state’s cumulative recoveries rose to 29,748 following recuperation of 10 more patients, while the death toll increased to 664 with one fatality in the last 24 hours.

According to an update from the department of Health and Family Welfare, seven each positive cases were reported in Dimapur and Kohima, and four in Phek.

Out of the 10 new recoveries, six were reported in Mokokchung, three in Dimapur, and one in Kohima.

Nagaland currently has 250 active Covid-19 cases, out of which 188 are asymptomatic, 48 mild, seven moderate on oxygen, five severe on oxygen, one in ICU without ventilator, and one in ICU on ventilator.

In regard to district-wise distribution of active cases, Dimapur has the highest infections at 127, followed by Kohima with 51, 30 in Tuensang, 16 in Mokokchung, eight each in Longleng and Wokha, four in Phek, three in Mon, two in Peren, and one in Kiphire, while Zunheboto is currently Covid-free.

India logs 16326 new cases

Meanwhile, India saw a rise of 16,326 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 3,41,59,562, while the active cases have declined to 1,73,728, the lowest in 233 days, following 17,677 recoveries, according to data provided by the Union Health ministry.

The death toll has climbed to 4,53,708 with 666 daily fatalities, while the cumulative recoveries increased to 3,35,32,126 at 98.16% recovery rate.

The country’s weekly positivity rate stands at 1.24% and daily positivity rate at 1.20%, said the report.

As many as 101.30 crore vaccine doses have been administered across the country so far, it added.
