As part of its civic action programme, the 173 battalion of CRPF at Dimapur airfield gave away a total of 58 solar lights and 36 water storage tanks on March 15.
The facilities were given away to the needy people residing nearby its battalion headquarters, CIHSR Hospital, and F/ 173 battalion CRPF at Powergrid colony in Dimapur in the presence of Dimapur’s commissioner of police, Kevithuto Sophie as the chief guest, a DIPR report stated.
Speaking on the occasion, the commandant of 173 Bn CRPF, Ashok Kumar Yadav, stated said that civic action programme is conducted by CRPF every year in which needy people are provided with various essential items which are beneficial for them in their daily life. He also elucidated that the civil action programme bridges the gap between security forces and the local populace.
Also speaking on the occasion, Kevithuto Sophie, stated that villages and colonies should help the units whenever required. He stated that people are always free to ask for help from his department and assured all possible assistance. He further thanked all the units of 173 CRPF battalion for organising such programmes at regular interval for the benefits of local residents.
The programme highlights included a bamboo dance presentation by the Phaipijang village and a welcome address by Heiyilung Nsarangbe, deputy command of 173 Bn CRPF.
It informed that the civic action programme would continue for three days in various parts of Dimapur and Nagaland.
