Dimapur, Sep. 28 (EMN): Altogether 17 schools in Kohima district were declared ‘tobacco free.’ This was disclosed during the quarterly meeting of District Level Coordination Committee held on September 26 in the DC’s conference hall, Kohima.
Reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, KMC Administrator, Kethosituo Sekhose, informed that shops selling tobacco products near the schools within a radius of 100 yards will be penalised adding their trade license will be seized.
The schools and colleges, which were declared tobacco free included Mt. Olive College; Loyola Higher Secondary School, Jakhama; Government Middle School, Dzuvuru; Capital College, Kohima; Jawahar Novadaya Vidyalaya, Kohima; Mountain View Christian College, Kohima; Government Middle School, Keyake; Radiant School, New Secretariat; Government Primary School, New Secretariat; Government Primary School High School Area; Don Bosco College, Kohima; Sazolie College; Sacred Heart High School, Khuzama; Government Primary School, Kenuozou; St. Xavier’s School, Kidima; Government Primary School, D Block; Government Middle School, Mima.
The programme was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, who also delivered the welcome address. Highlighting on the activities of District Tobacco Control Cell, Kohima, Dr. Arenla Walling, District Nodal Officer, Kohima, informed that car stickers on harmful effects of tobacco would be distributed for free under Kohima by Ambassador of Smoke Free and Project 72 Hrs Kohima, Sievituo Solo.
