16 state players for NEZ Inter-State Badminton C’ship

Principal Correspondent Kohima, November 10 Altogether, 16 players, which include 10 male and six female along with two match officials will be leaving the State capital for Guwahati tomorrow to participate in the forthcoming North East Zone Inter-State Badminton Championship. The championship is scheduled to be held from November 13 to 16 at Guwahati. The 16 players include: Tajenkaba, Taliakum, Moatemjen, Along Jamir, Ankur Sangpang Rai, Pulie, Prathana Khapangee, Imlirenla, Uma Tamang, Riku Khape, Moamongba, Dolan Khangba, Hapongkyu, Deepika Kaushik, Yashikala and Kungri with Sungit as Team coach and C. Wati Odyuo as team manager.Exhorting the players during a formal send off and uniform distribution ceremony at Indoor stadium here this evening, Parliamentary Secretary for Irrigation & Flood Control and President Nagaland Badminton Association, Vikheho Swu expressed hope that the players would bring laurels for the state. Terming that the state players are symbol of the state for others, he appealed them to give their best and also maintain discipline in their performances. Lamenting that due to fund constraint the government has not been able to extend much support and promote sportspersons of the state, including the badminton players, he however expressed hope that things would be better in future. Pastor of Faith Harvest Church, Rev. Shan Kikon pronounced blessing upon the team.
