16 Manipur fencers selected to represent India in Bangkok

Sixteen fencing players and officials from Manipur would be joining the India’s fencing team in the Thailand Open Fencing Championship-2013 to be held under the aegis of Amateur Fencing Association of Thailand from September 13 at Fashion Island Mall, Bangkok.
It may be noted that the Fencing Association of India had announced a list of 28 fencers and 12 officials for participation at the Thailand Open Fencing Championship-2013.
The selected fencers from Manipur who would be part of the National squad are O Sovaraj Singh (Foil), Th Rajeshor Singh (Foil), Atom Shaolin Meitei (Epee), Wakambam Ranjit Singh (Epee), Nongmaithem Sushila Devi (Sabre), Maibam Usharani Devi (Foil), Laishram Samashakhi (Epee), Haobam Linthoi (Epee), Kangjam Laxmi Devi (Epee) and Wakambam Josephine (Epee).
The selected officials include Wakambam Suraj Singh (Manager), Tongbram Ibochouba Singh (official), Langpoklakpam Jayantakumar Singh (Physiotherapist), Wahengbam Sonajit Singh (Doctor), Bao Challe Pou (official) and Wakambam Ranjit Singh (Coach).
Meanwhile, with 28 gold, 17 silver and 8 bronze medals, the Sports Authority of India NERC Imphal team took the overall title besides topping in the medal tally of the 3-day-long 32nd Age Group Athletic Championship which concluded on September 8.
