KOHIMA, MAY 23: The 15th Nagaland State Chess Challenger 2016 got underway today at Red Cross Society Conference Hall, Kohima. A total of 34 senior and 11 junior players are taking part in the four-day championship which will conclude on May 26.
The top 16 players of this years’ championship in senior category would be selected to join the top four of last years’ championship to play at the Nagaland Premier League. Then on, the top four of the NPL will represent Nagaland at the National Chess Challenger to be held in the month of July this year at Uttar Pradesh.
While for junior category, the top four players will represent Nagaland at the North East Chess meet to be held very shortly, it was informed. Earlier, the inaugural function was graced by Kevipodi Sophie, project director, DRDA.
