DIMAPUR — The Kuzhale-speaking people of the Chakhesang community celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Kuzhale Bible at Pfutseromi Village Baptist Church on April 13, organised by the Kuzhami Baptist Churches Association (KBCA).
According to a press release, the program was chaired by Wetsho Mero, the president of KBCA, and Rev. Dr. Kevekhalo Lasuh, the senior pastor of Chakhesang Baptist Church Kohima, was the speaker.
Speaking on the occasion, Lasuh emphasised the power of the word of God, highlighting the blessing and great value of having the Bible in one’s mother tongue and being able to learn from it. Quoting 1 Peter 1:15–16 from the Bible, he challenged the Kuzhamis to live holy lives, reminding them that God is holy.
Rev. Dr. VK Nuh, aged 93, and Rev. Z Mero, aged 102, also attended the programme and delivered the words of blessing and the prayer of blessing, respectively.
Rev. Dr. Obed Marhu, the executive director of KBCA, delivered the welcome note, while short speeches were given by N Lomi, former chairman of KKT, Dr. Ditsolo Kapfo, chairman of KLL, and Wepretso Mero.
A moment of silence was observed in remembrance of Late Dr. Weprenyi Mero, the translator of the Kuzhale Bible, during the event, which was attended by a thousand congregants.
