15 new members made it to the state assembly

Kohima, Mar. 6 (EMN): Out of the total 195 candidates, the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly general election 2018 witnessed a surge of eighty fresh candidates in which fifteen managed to make an entry into the political arena.

The first-timer winners were Moatoshi Longkumer (NPF) of Dimapur 2, Kezhienyi Khalo (NPF) of 17-Chizami, Keneizhako Nakhro (NPF) of 8-Western Angami, Zale Neikha (NDPP) of 15-Southern Angami-2, Imnatiba Longkumer (NPP) of 22-Arkakong, Tongpang Ozukum (Ind) of 24-Angetyongpang, Metsubo Jamir (NDPP) of 27-Mokokchung town, Temjen Imna Along (BJP) of 30-Alongtaki, Kazheto Kinimi (BJP) of 31-Akuluto A/C, Dr. Kaito Jakhalu (NPF) of 33-Suruhuto, K Tokugha Sukhalu (NDPP) of 35 Zunheboto, Mhathung Yanthan (NDPP) of 39-Sanis, Muthingnyuba Sangtam (NPF) of 52-Longkhim-Chare, Toshi Wungtung (NDPP) of 58-Shamator-Chessore, and V Kashiho (BJP) of 59-Seyochung-Kiphire assembly constituency.

First-timer from Dimapur-II Moatoshi Longkumer of NDPP, who polled 21942 votes, defeated Supulebten of NPF by a margin of 6939 votes, while Dr. Amos Longkumer  of AAP) could garner only 1211 votes and Wedie-u Kronu (NPP) from Dimapur-III polled only 483 votes.

Under Ghaspani-1, first timer and Independent candidate Z Kasheto Yeptho, polling 20796 votes, was defeated by BJP’s N Jacob Zhimomi by a 2595 margin, while a new candidate Akavi N Zhimomi of AAP polled 6233 votes, and Nagavito Sumi of INC polled 1497 voters.

Dr. Kevingulie Khro of NPF with 6023 votes and KK Sema of INC with 5653 votes from Ghaspani-II were both defeated by Zhaleo Rio of NDPP with 10939 votes.

Kezhienyi Khalo of NPF from Chizami with 6563 votes defeated BJP’s Kevechutso Doulu by a margin of 403 margins. Other candidates namely Kewepelo Tsuhah of INC polled 471 votes, while Rekha Rose Dukru of Independent polled 338 votes, Shezota Lohe of INC polled 326 votes and NDPP’s Kupota Khesoh with 6196 votes lost their mark.

Meanwhile Kudecho Khamo of NDPP from Chozuba with 10490 votes was defeated by NPF old timer Chotisuh Sazo by a margin of 942 votes.

In Meluri AC, Z Nyusietho Nyuthe of NDPP with 7854 votes lost to NPF candidate Yitachu with a slight margin of 74 votes, while another first timer M Hopeson Snock of NPP got only 619 votes.

In Kohima district under 8-Western Angami AC, Keneizhako Nakhro of NPF won the seat by a margin of 694 votes against his opponent and first timer Kevisekho Kruse of NDPP polling 5822 votes.

Newcomer Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso of NPF) from 9 Kohima town with 10233 votes lost to NDPP’s Dr. Niekiesalie Nicky Kire by 2372 margin.

For 14-Southern Angami-1, newcomers Khrielezo Bio of NPF and Nagakul Tase of INC with 1366 votes and 337 respectively lost their seat whereas Zale Neikha of NDPP from 15-Southern Angami-II with 7563 votes defeated NPF’s Kropol Vistu (6792 votes) by 771 votes.

For Tseminyu AC, new candidates namely Loguseng Semp of NPF polled 6871 votes and Thapimo Semy of JDU with 105 failed to make their mark, while R Khing of NDPP with 7925 votes won the seat against NPP’s Levi Rengma (7062 votes) by 863 votes.

First timers from Pughoboto AC, Dr. Sukhato A Sema of BJP) with 6188 votes and Kheyihe Zhimomi of Independent with only 56 votes lost to Y Vikheho Swu of NPF, who won by a margin of 70 votes.

New entrant from Tuli, James Imtikumba Yaden of NDPP with 2792 votes, Lipokmar Tzudir of LJP with 2350 votes, Lepzungchiba Jamir of INC) with 279 votes and L Temjen Jamir of JDU) with 2979 votes all lost to Amenba Yaden of NPF.

In Arkakong AC, first timer Imnatiba Longkumer of NPP with 6307 votes won the seat by a 793 margin against NPF’s Nuklutoshi, while Mangyang Lima of NDPP could garner only 914 votes.

Independent candidate from Angetyongpang constituency Tongpang Ozukum defeated Alemtemshi Jamir of NDPP and Ngangshi K Ao of NPF by polling 4607 votes. For Mokokchung town AC, newcomer Metsubo Jamir of NDPP with 2964 votes won the seat by 1004 margin against C Apok Jamir of NPF, while the Independent candidate Dr. Temsuwati Longkumer got only 526 votes and Rongsenshilu of INC got 129 votes.

In Koridang AC, first timer C Lima Imchen of NDPP got only 749 votes and NPF’s Imkong L Imchen got 7525 votes against T Chalukumba Ao of NPP securing 7397 votes. Another first timer Temjen Imna Along of BJP with 5981 votes won the seat by 86 margin against NPF’s Dr. Benjongliba Aier (5895 votes) from Alongtaki AC.

New entrant from 6-Tening AC Namduadi Raangkau Zeliang of NPF) with 6850 votes lost to Namri Nchang of NDPP by a margin of 168 votes.

In 31-Akuluto AC, Kazheto Kinimi of BJP with 4844 votes won by a margin of 735 votes against K Khekaho Assumi of NPF, while in 33-Suruhuto another new entrant Dr. Kaito Jakhalu of NPF was defeated by his opponent.

While K Tokugha Sukhalu of NDPP from 35-Zunheboto won by a margin of 2548, Hukiye N Tissica of NPF from 34-Aghunato and Zheito Chophy of NPF from 36-Satakha both lost by a margin of 1416 and 2543 votes respectively.

New entrants from 37-Tyui namely Dr. RR Thunchamo Ezung of NCP with 585, Chobathung Odyuo of JDU with 187, and Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe of JDU from 38-Wokha with 8555 and E Thungjamo Ezung of INC with 164 and Myinthungo Mozhui of JDU with 1997 both from 40-Bhandari         lost their seats to the old timers.

Mhathung Yanthan of NDPP from 39 Sanis won the seat by securing 10548 votes, while Ramongo Lotha of JDU secured 7556 votes and Y Renbomo Kikon of NPF could garner only 471 votes.

Naowang Konyak of INC with 67, T Hatpha Wangnao of JDU with 4169 and Y Wangto Konyak of NPP with 4595 votes from 41-Tizit all lost to old timer P Paiwang Konyak of the BJP.

In 43-Tapi, N Aphoa Konyak of JDU with 3047 votes, Wanglem of NPP with 549 votes, and Ngampai Konyak of INC with 230 votes and H Chingshak Konyak of NPP with 1725 votes both from 44-Phomching failed to make their mark.

Er. C Kawang Konyak of BJP with 2907 votes and Chingkai Konyak of NPP with 268 votes from 45-Tehok both lost to CL John of NPF, while Awan Konyak of NDPP with 5231 votes from 47-Aboi and BP Henveih Phom of NPP with 40 votes, P Moigam Phom of AAP with 47 votes, Independent candidate W Chingkam with 3162 votes from 49-Tamlu and W Chingmak Chang of NPF with 3860 votes, I Noksenlemba of INC with 1008 votes and Dr. K Mangyangpula Chang of NPP with 725 votes, all from 51-Noksen met the same fate of failure.

On the other hand, Muthingnyuba Sangtam of NPF from 52 Longkhim-Chare won by securing 9316 votes defeating old timers Imtilemba Sangtam of the BJP and T Cholongse Sangtam of NPP.

T Mongko Chang of NDPP from 53-Tuensang Sadar-I with 6828 lost to Toyang Chang of NPP, while H Zungkum Chang of NCP from 54-Tuensang Sadar with 4405 votes and K Khaming of JDU from 56-Noklak with only 449 votes lost to old timers.

Meanwhile first timer from 58-Samator-Chessore, Toshi Wungtung of NDPP defeated R Tohanba of NPF by a margin of 307, while V Kashiho of BJP from 59-Seyochung-Kiphire defeated C Kipili Sangtam of NPF by a margin of 1162 votes.

T Torechu of the NPF defeated all the first timers from 60-Pungro-Kiphire.
