
Participants compete in the first Nagaland Open FIDE Rating

- DIMAPUR — The first Nagaland Open FIDE Rating
Rapid Chess Tournament commenced on Thursday, organised by the Nagaland Chess
Association under the aegis of the All India Chess Federation at the Don Bosco
Institute for Development and Leadership Hall, Dimapur.
- The two-day chess tournament opening ceremony was attended
by Tinojungshi Chang, Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, and Nitin Narang,
President of the All India Chess Federation, as the event's special guest.
- A total of 144 participants from across the northeast and
West Bengal are taking part in it. The competition features various age
categories, including Under-6, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, and a Veterans
category for players aged 55 and above. The total prize money for the
tournament was INR 3 lakh.
- The event is being conducted in accordance with the
International Chess Federation (FIDE) laws of chess and follows the Swiss
system format, with a total of nine rounds scheduled. The chief arbiter of the
tournament is FA Pranab Kumar Nath, the deputy chief arbiter is Vekhukho Akho
Soho, and the hall in charge was Haikam Mengise.
