EMN Dimapur, February 25 District Magistrate Dimapur N Hushili Sema today has promulgated 144 CrPC prohibiting assembly of five or more persons from 5 am on February 25 and until further orders in and around Indisen village and Rilan village along borders of Dimapur and Karbi Anglong districts. The order has been issued in view of the critical situation in these areas following destruction of properties and movement of large number of Naga public, thereby resulting in law and order problems, the District Magistrate said. The order also stated that there is apprehension of danger to human lives and properties and disturbance to public tranquility if three or more persons congregate or assemble. It further said the situation justifies and calls for immediate action to be taken to prevent breach of peace in these areas. On Sunday, several student organizations of Assam such as the Karbi Students Association, All Dimasa Students Union, All Assam Gurkha Students Union, United Students Union of Karbi Anglong, Karbi Re-awakening Organisation and some other civil organisations have called for indefinite blockade on NH 39 & 36 leading to Nagaland from February 25. They also called for a six-hour railways blockade against the State on the day. The blockade is to protest the alleged unabated encroachment along Assam-Nagaland border areas of Daldali and Rongapahar Reserve Forest under Karbi Anglong district of Assam by Nagaland, the organizations said in a joint statement on Sunday. The statement alleged that Nagaland has encroached upon a large area of forest land under Karbi Anglong district and that it has become order of the day as intruders cut jungles, construct roads and houses etc in these areas. The intent to impose the road blockade, the statement said, is not to harass people of Nagaland but the civil bodies are being forced to adopt such a measure owing to the ‘inactive role of the government of Nagaland and its patronage to encroachers’.
