140 youth complete YouthNet’s ‘Sip and Crunch’ programme
DIMAPUR — YouthNet, in collaboration with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), hosted a felicitation ceremony of the ‘Sip and Crunch’ skill development programme at the Made in Nagaland Centre, Kohima, on Friday.
In an update, YouthNet informed that the programme aimed to enhance employability and foster entrepreneurship among 140 local youth and women through specialised training in pickle and juice production.
In her welcome address, Nuneseno Chase, director of YouthNet, expressed gratitude to NABARD for its unwavering support and assistance. She highlighted the significant impact of NABARD-funded initiatives such as the skill development programmes and the banana fibre extraction programme, on empowering the youth and women of Nagaland.
Chase also informed that participants from eight districts across Nagaland took part in the training programme with accommodation provided for trainees from far-flung districts.
In her keynote address, chief general manager of NABARD, Tiakala Ao, encouraged the trainees to embrace entrepreneurship and explore diverse product lines. She underscored the importance of networking, collaboration and continuous self-improvement, urging trainees to stay adaptable and innovative.
“To succeed in today’s competitive market, one must be open to new ideas, persevere through challenges and give back to the community…I urge you all to harness these skills, venture out and contribute to the economic growth of Nagaland,” she said.
The event also celebrated the achievements of the trainees with Kimthailiu Panmei representing the batch of trainees by sharing her journey and experiences.
Notably, 18 participants have successfully launched their businesses and 126 have completed their FSSAI registration, marking significant strides in fostering local entrepreneurship, the update stated.
The ‘Sip and Crunch’ programme, which ran from January 15 to June 13 was structured into seven batches and included comprehensive training in food processing, hygiene practices, soft skills and business management.
The felicitation event was chaired by YouthNet executive Apila C Sangtam and Vikhoto Zao, assistant pastor of Peniel Church, invoked God’s blessings.
Razouvikhol Luho, nodal officer and project manager of YouthNet, who proposed vote of thanks, acknowledged all partners, trainees and supporters who contributed to the programme’s success.
“YouthNet’s commitment to post-training support ensures ongoing guidance in marketing, employment connections and entrepreneurial mentorship through platforms like the Made in Nagaland Centre and YouthNet’s various initiatives,” it added.
