14 apex tribal hohos of Nagaland call for sincerity from negotiators of Naga issue

Dimapur, Aug. 11 (EMN): As the topsy-turvy ride of the Indo-Naga political talks appears to be getting severe in recent times, the apex hohos of the 14 tribes of Nagaland have called for sincerity and commitment for solution from those involved in the negotiations.

A statement from the apex hohos on Tuesday maintained that Nagas are desperate for ‘peace in our land and also with all neighbouring ethnic groups for all times to come’.

“We appreciate the progress of political negotiations that has reached it final leg where inclusive agreement can be reached any time if the parties stand committed to October 31, 2019 understanding.

“This is not the time for negative campaign that will delay the process and to engage in endless negotiations to remain in one’s comfort zone at the cost of peace and tranquillity. It is pertinent at this juncture to avoid double-standard role of negotiation without any commitment for solution,” read the statement.

They also appreciated the Centre’s interlocutor RN Ravi and the Naga negotiators for their magnanimity and dedicated engagement towards bringing lasting peace through an inclusive solution.

The apex hohos further appealed to the prime minister of India, Narendra Modi, to demonstrate his magnanimity and “generously address one of the oldest political conflicts with resounding effects in the political history of magnificent India with no intention of change in the Interlocutor”.
