134 graduated from Tetso College

Dimapur, June 15 (EMN): Tetso College celebrated its first graduation day on June 15 with Dr. Tuisem A Shishak, founder and president/ principal emeritus of Patkai Christian College, as the commencement speaker, and Winsome Sitlhou, BA (Eng) Gold medalist under Nagaland University, as the valedictorian.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Tuisem A Shishak highlighted that it is about time that institutes like Tetso College and Patkai Christian College collaborate spiritually and academically for the growth of higher education. He added that the institutes of higher education should move towards excellence in research. He encouraged Tetso students to move forward with confidence and avoid being a part of the unemployable youth.

The college awarded a 100% scholarship worth INR 92,000 to the valedictorian, while all successful graduates were awarded 30% scholarship for MA English and Political Science programme. Altogether 134 successfully completed their graduation.

The function was chaired by Dr. S Elika Assumi, while the introductory speech was delivered by Dr. Hewasa Lorin, and the opening prayer was said by Haiwalo Apon, executive secretary of Council of Rengma Baptist Churches.

The college’s principal, Dr. PS Lorin, presented a brief history of the college’s humble beginnings since 1994 and encouraged the graduating students to create a positive impact in society and continue to live true to the college’s motto to strive for excellence.

A folk fusion song was presented by Pretty Rhythm. Dr. Hewasa reminded the students that they are not only graduating with a degree but as a more complete person, knowing that their responsibility also lies in improving the society and the State.
