Dimapur, April 11 (EMN): The Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) has expressed support to the Nagaland Law Students’ Federation’s representation that was submitted to the chief secretary to not approve or consider a proposal: the creation of 13 ex-cadre posts to be associated with the chief minister’s office (CMO). Likewise the support to the demand to cancel the appointment of one Priyang Pandey as OSD of Nagaland House at New Delhi, and the opposition to the deduction of a day’s salary from all government employees for the Chief Secretary Welfare Fund (CSWF).
A press release from the NVCO on Wednesday stated that the organisation had received a copy of the NLSF’s representation on April 11. It had stated that the federation would not compromise under any condition as said issues hampered the students’ welfare, and the prestige and respect for the bureaucracy, the state exchequer, and the government employees besides the welfare of the public welfare in general.
The NVCO appreciated, besides expressing ‘fullest’ support, for the demand of the NLSF which was served to the Home commissioner, secretary for P & AR; commissioner-secretary to chief minister; auditor general; and to a host of community organisations for action.
Earlier, the NVCO said, it had termed the government’s decision to deduct a day’s wage from the salary of employees as a contribution to the CSWF as “unreasonable.” The organisation asserted that a day’s salary or monthly salary was hard-earned money, the press release stated.
The NVCO stated to have pointed out that government employees are also a consumer and entitled to all consumer rights guaranteed by the Consumer Protection Act of 1986.
The Home commissioner is said to have clarified that the CSWF was created as part of a decision taken during a meeting of administrative heads and heads of departments on Feb. 19 2016. However, it failed to mention ‘any genuine cause or reason or relief or disaster’ etc., the press release stated.
