Nagaland: 12 students receive NI Jamir Award for academic excellence
DIMAPUR — A total of 12 HSLC toppers from the Ao community were conferred the NI Jamir Award for academic excellence during a programme held at Molu Ki in Kohima on Saturday.
The advisor of Transport and Technical Education, Temjenmenba, who was the main speaker, congratulated the HSLC toppers on their achievement and encouraged them keep working hard and strive to reach greater heights as they continue their studies.
He exhorted them to take inspiration from the life and achievements of NI Jamir, who despite facing numerous hardships, was able to attain the highest government office in the state. He further urged the students to be hard working and remain humble in success and not lose themselves in the laurels and achievements, stated a DIPR report.
He concluded by reminding the students the duty of one and all to make positive contributions to the community and society as a whole in whatever way possible.
The retired chief secretary of Nagaland, Alemtemshi Jamir, also delivered a short speech on behalf of the family of late NI Jamir. He congratulated the toppers on their achievements and thanked the Kohima Onpangkong Telongjem for keeping the legacy of his late father alive through the award.
It mentioned that NI Jamir Award for academic excellence is an initiative of the Kohima Ongpangkong Telongjem to felicitate academic achievers of the HSLC examination since 2007. It added that 106 students have received the awards till date.
The award carries a certificate of achievement and a cash of INR 10,000.
The award recipients for 2023 are Mulungsula Changkiri (10th rank0, Imnaakum Imsong (11th rank0, Jungshinungla (11th rank), Rongchensenla (12th rank), Wangshizenla (13th rank), Imtitongzuk (15th rank), Maongkala M Imchen (16th rank), Sungtiben Kichu (17th rank), Molungben Longkumer (17th rank), Rongsennungla Longchar (17th rank), Imnasenla M Longkumer (18th rank), and Temsumenla Jamir (20th rank).
