DIMAPUR — A total of 12 National Cadet Corps (NCC) from 1 Nagaland Air Squadron NCC under NCC Group headquarters are currently undergoing the All India Vayu Sainik Camp (AIYSC) 2023 in Bengaluru. The camp is being held from September 23 to October 4.
According to a defence release, the participating cadets from Nagaland included Shekato Yeptho and Priyanka Mech from Eastern Christian College, Lanmi Khamrang, Hikivi Aye, Ngipnon, Kenzeuyigongbe Elu, S Ngou Shio, Kevikelie Nyekha from Patkai Christian College and Ngamlih Yalam, Ngwaying Lungalang, Machipeuheile, and Phamlong A Konyak from Kohima Science College.
It stated that a total of 38 cadets comprising 24 boys and 14 girls in the senior division from NCC Directorate of Northeastern region would be competing in various fields such as drill, skeet shooting, 0.22 rifle shooting, tent pitching and line area competition, health and hygiene, air force specific subject (emphasis on flying related subjects), standard operating procedures of flying virus microlight/ zen air aircraft etc.
It mentioned that the All India Vayu Sainik Camp is a centrally organised camp held every year by the Directorate General of NCC, where Air wing cadets from 17 NCC directorates from different regions of the country. It added that the training standards of Air Wing NCC units are also assessed during the camp in accordance with the Air Force pattern, generating a competitive spirit and fostering a sense of discipline, leadership, and national integration amongst the participating cadets.
