11th NAP (IR) emerge champions for 8th consecutive year

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 15

The 11th NAP (IR) Battalion emerged the overall champion of the XXXIV Nagaland Police Duty-cum-Sports & Athletic Meet which concluded today at NAPTC Stadium, Chumukedima. This is the eight consecutive year where the 11th NAP (IR) Bn had come out victorious as the overall champions in the Police Meet which is held annually.
The five-day event which had the participation of 30 Police battalions from across the State, assembled players from all rank and file of the Police department and also drew the attention of spectators from various corners.
The 11th NAP (IR) Bn also emerged as the champions in the games event, while the 12 NAP (IR) Bn bagged the 1st position in duty items.
Setting another landmark in the Police meet championship, Medolhou, a Havildar from DEF Kohima broke his own record in the Shot Put event. He set the earlier record last year.
Another attraction during the five-day meet was the participation of Naga Olympian Chekrovolü Swuro. Miss Swuro, ABI, NAPTC won the silver medal in the women’s Badminton doubles partnering with Aboli Metha, Dy Co, 15th NAP (IR).
Defying age, the DGP Prison/Home Guard, LT Lotha also bagged three gold medals and one silver medal in Lawn Tennis. Lotha emerged as the champion in Lawn Tennis singles, veteran singles, men’s doubles, and was placed in veteran doubles.
Earlier, speaking at the closing ceremony, the director general of police, Besesayo Kezo urged the sportspersons to better their performance so that they achieve at the higher level of competitions.
To this, he told them to strive harder with the determination to reach greater heights.
“It is not strength and intelligence, but the key to achieve higher comes with continuous efforts,” the DGP said.
Also stating that sports teaches us values and life lessons, he advised the sportspersons to imbibe good values such as discipline, hard work, sacrifice, overcoming adversity
TheDGP also suggested for inclusion of Archery, Judo and gymnastic in next Police meet.
The closing ceremony concluded with a band display by the 15th NAP (IR) Mahila BN Pipe Band.
