Imphal, Aug. 16 (EMN): A total of 111 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and 68 from the general population were tested positive for Covid-19 in Manipur, official sources said on Sunday.
“In the past 24 hours, 68 persons (42 males, 26 females) from the general population and 111 from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new Covid-19 positive cases,” said Dr. Kh Sasheekumar Mangang, additional director and spokesperson of Health department in a press release.
The new positive cases are from VRDLs of RIMS, JNIMS and other testing centres, it said.
Eight out of the general population are returnees from other states and the rest 60 are locals without any significant travel history, it stated.
They are being shifted to the Covid care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it said.
Meanwhile with the deaths of three males, the total death toll relating to Covid-19 in Manipur increased to 16 as on Sunday.
It may be mentioned that the first death report relating to Covid-19 was reported in Manipur on July 29.
In the past 24 hours, 194 persons have been discharged from CAPF, RIMS and seven Covid Care Centres including a district hospital after testing Covid-19 free on the RT PCR test, it said. The cumulative number of positive cases is 4,569 including 1,192 CAPF personnel while the cumulative number of discharged cases is 2,632, the release said adding that the number of active cases is 1,921 including 944 CAPF personnel."The recovery rate is 57.60 percent," it stated.
