DIMAPUR — A minor fire broke out at Signal Angami village in Dimapur on Sunday evening, damaging a temporary kitchen structure.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror, the Officer-in-Charge of West Fire Station, Akhamba, said that they received a distress call at around 4.51 pm and immediately dispatched fire personnel along with a fire tender.
He informed that three fire tenders were mobilised—one from West Fire Station and two from Central Fire Station.
However, only one vehicle was required to extinguish the blaze as it reached the site quickly, while the other two were not needed.

He added that the prompt response by firefighters brought the fire under control in less than 10 minutes, preventing it from spreading further.

According to Akhamba, the fire is suspected to have originated from a flame used for smoking meat inside the temporary kitchen.
The structure, separate from the main house, was a thatched setup made of tin/CGI sheets and used specifically for meat smoking.
Officials confirmed that the fire did not spread beyond the kitchen area, and no other structures were affected.
Preliminary estimates put the property loss at around INR 20,000 or less. No casualties were reported.
