1.46 lakh households in Nagaland get tap water connection

Dimapur, Jan. 18 (EMN): A total of 1, 46, 249 households have been provided tap water connection out of 3, 77, 286 households in Nagaland, covering 216 villages under the Jal Jeevan Mission as on 17 January 2022.

Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, Kohima has the highest number of household tap connections with a total of 18, 798 houses covering a total of eight villages.

Meanwhile, Mon district has 17,808 households with tap connection covering 15 villages, and Dimapur has 17,620 households covering 56 villages.

Longleng district reported the least number of tap connections with just 3,950 covering only four villages, followed by Peren district with 5,981 households covering nine villages and Kiphire district with 8,097 connections in eight villages.

Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the highest ‘Har Ghar jal’ (water to every household) villages were implemented in Wokha district, covering a total of 63 villages, followed by Dimapur with 56 villages and 28 villages in Zunheboto.

The ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ is a flagship programme of the government of India to provide functional household tap connection (FHTC) to every rural household of the country by 2024.

The mission aims to improve the lives of rural people by providing safe drinking water to every rural home through household tap connections.
