DIMAPUR, JUNE 22
The annual hymnal competition of Wokha Town Baptist Church Youth department was held on June 21 on the song titled ‘The Stranger of Galilee’ written & composed by C.H Morris.
Altogether, fourteen choirs and 517 choir members from various colony fellowships took part in the competition.
GHSS & Zuvotong youth fellowship choir emerged as the champion, while the first and second runners-up were bagged by Vungoju youth fellowship and Niropen Youth fellowship respectively.
The panels of judges were Jethro Merry, a renowned musician, John Ovung, youth director of Lotha Baptist Church, Dimapur, Benlamo Yanthan, associate youth director of Lotha Baptist Church, Dimapur, Eyingbemo Ngullie, CBCNEI mission promoter based at Bor Lingiri, Dimapur, Yentsao Ezung, pastor of Longsa Baptist Church. The overall judge was Nzanthung Ngullie, youth secretary Kyong Baptist Churches Association.
Mention be made that Wokha Town Baptist Church Youth department has been promoting similar competitions for more than 10 years with the purpose of promoting hymnal songs among the younger generation.
