The People Channel (TPC) held its ‘2014 First Quarter Certificate Award Day’ on June 14 at its office premises located in Walford Colony, Dimapur.
The programme was graced by Khrienuo Metha, secretary and Team Leader Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) as the chief guest.
In her address, the chief guest encouraged the young trainees to take the training seriously and become successful people in the future. Meanwhile, she also lauded the efforts and initiative of Rozelle Mero and the progress that TPC has been making over the years, especially in employing young Nagas in different fields outside the state.
Mention be made that the total placements for the month of March, April and May 2014 has reached a target of 99%, while the cumulative total salary per annum of the candidates will amount to Rupees 1,6,80,000. This was disclosed by Rozelle Mero of TPC.
Speaking on behalf of the parents, Emilo Humtsoe enthusiastically conveyed that her daughter sent her home rupees 15,000 towards a sibling’s school admission, the very first month of joining work at J.W. Marriott in Pune. And in the second month, she sent another Rs 10,000 for yet another sibling’s college admission.
Despite objections from relatives and friends, Emilo had encouraged her daughter to avail the training from TPC and get a good placement. She said that all her daughters were employed outside the state and has been saving money to send home.
She also shared the experience of a neighbor, whose two sons were working in the Middle East and Bangalore. The savings of these boys had contributed towards the purchase of a family property. To this, she encouraged other parents to let their children go out to work as jobs are scarce in Nagaland.
Earlier, the chief guest also awarded the certificates to the trainees who had completed their mandatory one month training.
Petesinuo, a recent graduate and a past trainee chaired the programme, while Reka Mero and Ayewalolu Lohe spoke about their experiences as trainees at TPC. Moalong Yaden, counselor spoke on behalf of the faculty and trainees and operations manager, Esther Murry tendered the vote of thanks. Welhitso, a trainee inspired the crowd with an uplifting song presentation.
