Watiyangla is Spelling Bee champion

KOHIMA, OCTOBER 8: After a battle of nail biting rounds, Watiyangla Kichu of Class XII from Model Higher Secondary School, Kohima, emerged as the champion of the 5th edition of Nagaland Spelling Bee Championship 2016. She walked away with a cash prize of Rs 60,000 along with citation and a trophy.
Vetho Ringa of Class X from Corraggio School, Kohima, Shanchobemo Murry of Class XI from Model Higher Secondary School, Kohima, and Mahesh Pandey of Class IX from Christina Memorial Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, were declared as the second, third and fourth runners up respectively. They were awarded with a cash prize of Rs 40,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively along with citation and trophy.
The four quarter finalists were Lamhen Kezevilie Hangsing of Class XI from Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima; Imlikala Imchen of Class XI from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Kohima; Ivy Grace of Class-XII from Modern College, Kohima, and Ahmed Rayza Muhaimin of Class X from Charity School, Kohima. They were awarded with cash prizes of Rs 5000 each.
Special guest and president of Tenyimi Peoples Organisation, Timikha Koza, said he was immensely impressed with the the brilliant performances of the participants. Terming the young participants as ‘learned members,’ which according to him are valuable assets of the society who will lead and rule the society tomorrow, Koza urged them to be courageous, honest and fear the Lord to achieve their dreams.
While appreciating the Fountain Club for the noble initiative in building the mental capacity of the youngsters, Koza asked them to continue with the good work. He also declared to sponsor the prize money for the champion of the 6th edition of the Nagaland Spelling Bee Championship 2017.
