Dimapur, July 21 (EMN): Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) outreach programme was conducted at Sahitya Sabha Hall, Kohima, on July 21 for the students of Capital College of Higher Education (CCHE), Kohima.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kohima, Kiusumong Tikhir, has highlighted on the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines to the students. He said SVEEP campaign is a special drive for young people to enrol their name in the electoral roll. Stating that young people are the leaders of tomorrow, he said they should make good decision in electing their representatives.
ADC also informed that one should register their name in the electoral roll in one particular place on or before July 31.
While interacting with student community, the ADC cautioned that anybody found exercising proxy voting will be penalised with one year imprisonment as per Election Commission of India.
The college vice principal, Dr. Z Venuh delivered the welcome speech.
