Mokokchung, July 21 (EMN): Agriculture Department, Mokokchung division, under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) scheme 2016-17 distributed agricultural tools to 14 villages under Mokokchung district in its office premise today.
During the informal programme, Nungsangkaba, District Agriculture Officer, appealed the various village representatives to distribute the agricultural tools to the genuine farmers in order to benefit the villagers. He added that under the said schemes more sophisticated agricultural logistics will be provided to the farmers to facilitate various crop productions.
The beneficiary villages are Mokokchung village, Longsa, Chuchuyimlang, Salulamang, Longjang, Satsu, Mopungchuket, Kinunger, Aliba, Yajang, Waromong, Dibuia, Longjemdang and Khar.
The tools included sprayers, shovels, water can, spade, jumper, rake, pickaxe, maize sheller and sickle.
Interacting with media person, an official from the department disclosed that many agri schemes initiated by the Agri & allied departments are not successfully implemented in the lower sectors of Mokokchung district such as Jafukong, Jangpetkong and Tzurangkong because of deplorable road conditions and poor connectivity.
Asserting that since agriculture is basically base on seasons, the officials felt that spot verification and monitoring the growth of crops are very crucial for the department, adding proper connectivity is essential for the growth of agriculture in the district.
