State observes World Red Cross Day

COMMEMORATING the World Red Cross Day, Dimapur unit of the Indian Red  Cross Society (IRCS) reaffirmed to uphold the principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality in tandem with this year’s theme “Everywhere for everyone.”

Gracing the observation of World Red Cross Day at Neingulie Memorial High School with his lady wife, Kesonyu Yhome, Deputy Commissioner and President of IRCS, Dimapur District Branch, lauded the sponsors of the submersible water pump for the 700 beneficiaries of Neisatuo Colony and Dr. Dipika Jain for organising the free dental camp. Appreciating the humanitarian services of the members of the Red Cross, he called upon the denizens of the Neisatuo Colony to derive maximum benefit from the two noble initiatives of IRCS Dimapur Branch.

He also stressed upon the need to maintain harmony not only with the rest of the world but more necessarily with neighbors and near kith and kin.

Earlier, Yhome dedicated the water pump for the water starved colony people which was sponsored by Pankaj Singh, Rishav Sethi, Sanjeev Sharma, Kuldeep Jain, KB Pal and Radha Rani Trust, PS Sethi Memorial Trust, Pawan Gupta, Amit Dewanji to the tune of Rs 1,10 lakh.

Speaking on the occasion, Joseph Lemtur, president of Dimapur District Citizen’s Forum (DDCF) reminded about the day being observed as Mother’s Day in the true sense with the dedication of water pump.

Ajay Sethi, vice chairman, and KK Paul, Honorary Secretary IRCS, Dimapur, delivered the welcome and keynote address respectively, while Yogendra Gupta delivered the vote of thanks. Kuldeep Jain, Managing Committee member, coordinated the function, while Helena Yeputhomi, IRCS representative of the state branch, also spoke on the occasion.

Deaconess Asela invoked the Lord’s blessings, while Alezo Keiditsu, Chairman, Neisatuo colony expressed gratitude on behalf of all the colony people.

Meanwhile, IRCS Dimapur District Branch, has expressed gratitude to all the sponsors and doctors for their humanitarian gesture. He has also thanked the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, for sparing his time to grace the occasion. Further, the organizers thanked the chairman, GBs and the youth president of Neisatuo Colony and Management of Neingulie Memorial High School for their assistance in making the programme a grand success.

In a related programme, volunteers and members of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Mokokchung unit, visited District Hospital, Chest and TB Hospital and Woodland Nursing Home, on May 8 and distributed get well cards made by IRCS volunteers and one set of egg each to all the patients admitted in the hospitals.

It may be mentioned here that World Red Cross Day is celebrated each year on May 8. This year, the occasion was observed on the theme ‘Everywhere for everyone.’
