DIMAPUR, MAY 7

CONGREGATION of Mother of Carmel (CMC) sisters accepted eight new members namely Agnes Jajo, Reena Alungle, Agatha Kamsuan, Celina Therese, Therese Pamei, Felicity Prisca, Marilyn Ningshen and Henrietta, who made their vestition and first profession, on May 7 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish Hall, 4th Mile, Dimapur.
During the function Sr. Prima, CMC, also celebrated her golden jubilee of the religious commitment. Rev. Dominic Lumon DD, Archbishop of Imphal, was the main celebrant.
“Christ Jesus has made me His own” (Phil. 3:12) was the theme where around 36 priests con-concelebrated the Holy Mass in the presence of Rev. Sr. Sibi, CMC, Provincial Superior and her councilors, parents and relatives of the sisters, Sisters and faithful from Manipur, Assam and Dimapur.
Rev. Sr. Sibi, Provincial Superior, accorded the words of welcome to Dominic Lumon, Fr. Bosco, vice provincial of Salesan Don Bosco, Dimapur; Fr. KC James, Carmel Parish Priests; Fr. Sajan, St. Joseph Parish Priest; sisters, parents and invited guests.
The highlights of the programme included lighting of the lamp, removable of the traditional attires and receiving blessing from parents before the Holy Mass. The Archbishop congratulated the sisters for their courage and determination by choosing to live a religious life.
Dominic Lumon said all Christians are consecrated to God in baptism and adding that it is through religious vows that the consecration becomes effective. He said consecrated life is not the perfect state or higher state of life but rather a privilege state that makes us free from hindrances that could hold us back from loving God ardently and worshipping him perfectly. He urged the newly professed sisters to be strong in their commitment in the Lord Jesus and trust him profoundly. He recommends them to be strengthened in their deep personal prayer and in the Eucharist.
The choir by the aspirants of CMC added liveliness and meaning to the celebration. Rev. Sr. Cecilia Azeina, CMC, anchored the programme. During the short felicitation programme, special song was presented by the newly professed sisters. Anthony Haideo, parents’ representative, and Sr. Henrietta, CMC, newly professed, proposed the vote of thanks.
