Police recovers stolen vehicle

Anti-Vehicle Theft Squad (AVTS) of DEF Kohima detained one Indigo Marina bearing registration number NL-07-3483 with Chassis No. 603144BUZP26716 and Engine No. 475IDTI2BUZP25668 for verification.
During investigation, it was confirmed from counterpart Police Commissionerate Dimapur that, the same vehicle was snatched by three unknown miscreants at gun point between 6th & 7th Mile NH-39, Dimapur, around 8 PM on May 2.
On the basis of FIR lodged by the vehicle owner at Diphupar PS, a regular case vide Dimapur PS Case No. 0040/2008 U/S 392/34 IPC was registered and the case was investigated by Diphupar PS.
However, the case was submitted in final report before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Dimapur, on September 3, 2008, with a condition to revived the case as and when any clue is found in near future as the miscreants and vehicle was unable to be traced or retrived.
The stolen Indigo Marina, which was recovered after 8 years, has been handed over to the IO of the case on May 3 as per the requisition submitted by OC Diphupar PS Dimapur to Kohima Police. It may be pertinent to be mentioned that the vehicle was registered as NL-03/0530 when it was stolen while it was registered as NL-07-3483 at the time of recovery by Kohima Police.
From the statement given by the person from whom the stolen vehicle was recovered, it was learned that the vehicle was purchased in the year 2006 and has been using it till date whereas, the vehicle was reportedly stolen in 2008 and for which an FIR was filed at Diphupar P.S Dimapur.
Meanwhile, Dimapur Police on May 2 seized approximately 821 cases of illegal IMFL worth several lakhs based on specific inputs. The consignment was found loaded in a truck parked along the NH-2 near 2.5 Mile area. A case has been registered for necessary investigation.
On May 3, the personnel of the E/15 NAP(IR) Mahila Bn under East Police Station on patrol at the Super Market area apprehended two persons while extorting money from the Autorickshaws in the name of the GPRN/NSCN. Incriminating documents and cash were seized from their possession. The arrested persons werere identified as Kino Chophy, son of Atoi Chophy, and Kiyeto Labo, son of Ghoshikhu.
