NSACS launches new intervention clinic

With the objective to expand health services in Nagaland, the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) has launched a new clinic called designated sexually transmitted infection (STI)/Reproductive Tract Infection (RTI) clinic.The clinic, also called ‘Suraksha Clinic’, was launched in the Police Referral Hospital in Chumukedima on the September 4 in a small ceremony.
In her speech Project Director Dr. NL Changkija explained the meaning of ‘Suraksha Clinic’ which means ‘to keep our health in good condition.’ She emphasized on timely treatment of STI which would not only help treatment but also help in controlling HIV/AIDS infection.
Special invitee to the program was DIG (Range/Training & Border) Bendang Lemtor, IPS. He acknowledged the continuous service provided by the NSACS to the police department, especially in the form of awareness and sensitization programs. Such programs are needed by the uniformed personnel as they are a vulnerable group, he said.
Officials from the police headquarters, District AIDS Prevention & Control Unit of Dimapur, the Rural Area Foundation NGO (TI) and officers and staff of Police Referral Hospital attended the event.
